India Grid for Learning

Redefining Single Sign-On (SSO) & Identity Management for Education in India

Ingegno Transmedia is happy and proud to announce “India Grid for Learning” (IGfL), India’s first educational marketplace and Identity Access Management System (IAM). IGfL aims to simplify the complex world of interoperability in educational institutions to create seamless teaching and learning experiences for the learners, educators, content and service providers.

The current digital challenges for educators include managing subscriptions and licenses from various providers, managing multiple usernames and passwords, compatibility issues with legacy hardware & software, BYOD initiatives gaining in acceptance and usage, and security. A critical challenge that overarches all the above challenges is the need for the right content. This begins from finding quality, appropriate digital content and services, being able to try content and services before purchase, purchasing digital content and services to the biggest challenge of provisioning content and services across the education enterprise.

Single Sign On (SSO) and Identity Access Management (IAM)

Single sign-on (SSO) is a session/user authentication process that permits a user to enter one name and password in order to access multiple applications. The process authenticates the user for all the applications they have been given rights to and eliminates further prompts when they switch applications during a particular session.

Identity and Access Management (IAM) comprises of people, processes and products to manage identities and access to resources of an enterprise (such as an institution/school/corporate). IAM technology can be used to initiate, capture, record and manage user identities and their related access permissions in an automated fashion. This ensures that access privileges are granted according to one interpretation of policy and all individuals and services are properly authenticated, authorized and audited.
